Greg Mangum is a 21 year old political activist from Meridian, MS. Greg began to develop an interest in politics at a young age and knew he wanted to help to shape his country into what it needed to be. He began to get involved in local politics and eventually started becoming active in statewide and national politics. By the age of 18 in a high school government class, some of Greg's fellow students asked him to run for County Commissioner. Greg got in the race in 2007 and got through the primary and received 35% of the vote against a 16 year democratic incumbent. This was actually more than 1,300 votes. Greg the following year, was approached by some fellow conservatives and asked to seek the Election Commissioner seat in his district in Lauderdale County. The current commissioner was going to retire. Greg got in the race and was in a dead heat race with another fellow student. Greg was 19 at the time and his opponent was 20. Greg was expected by many all over Lauderdale County to win this race. It however, didn't turn out that way. Greg was defeated with a 61% to 39% margin. Greg is still known for having attracted one of the largest young person voter turnouts in history in the District 5 precincts of Lauderdale County during his elections. After having been involved in politics and learning the ins and outs of the process, Greg knew there was something else out there. He then founded and organized The Young Conservative Politician Coalition of America (YCPCA). YCPCA is organized as a 501c3 non-profit organization. YCPCA is dedicated to educating and training the future young conservative candidates of tomorrow. YCPCA encourages young people to not only take an interest in their government, but to actually get involved and run for office to change their government. Since November 7, 2008, YCPCA has grown to more than 1,100 supporters nationwide. YCPCA hopes to begin holding candidate training seminars in the near future, which will also teach the basics of the constitution and what it means to be a free individual living in a free society. Greg is currently majoring in Sociology and minoring in Political Science at The University of West Alabama. Greg Mangum, in 2009 also surrendered to the ministry as a Music/Youth Minister. He currently serves Rolling Creek Baptist Church in Quitman, MS. Greg is currently studying music ministry with the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and will graduate in May of 2010. He is also studying Biblical Studies with The Lay Theological Seminary out of Meridian, MS and will graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in 2012. While doing all of this school work and working at the church, Greg still has a love for his country and loves participating in speaking at TEA PARTY rallies and other Conservative based events.
